Kelantan Meet Sime Darby in FA Cup FINAL!

KUALA LUMPUR, (Bernama) - Club side Sime Darby FC created Malaysian football history by qualifying for the FA Cup final after holding defending champion Terengganu to a goalless draw while Kelantan booked their spot in the final after edging Kedah on away goals rule.

Sime Darby who had beaten Terengganu 2-1 in the first leg semifinal at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium in Kuala Terengganu, kept the East Coast side at bay to walk out with a goalless draw in the Selayang Stadium tonight.

Sime Darby, coached by Ismail Zakaria, becomes the first club side since 1990 to book a spot in the final while Selangor remains the team with the highest number of FA Cup wins, with five titles, followed by Kuala Lumpur (3) and Kedah (3) while Perak, Negeri Sembilan and Terengganu have two wins each.

In ALOR SETAR, Kelantan continued its fine run in the campaign by coming from behind to hold Kedah to a 2-2 tonight and advance to the final on the away goals rule since the aggregate score remained 3-3.

Kedah had pulled off a 1-1 draw at the Sultan Mohd IV Stadium during the first leg and looked headed to the final after taking a 2-1 lead but Kelantan import Mahmoud Ghadar scored the all important equalizer in the 60th minute to enable his team to advance.

Kedah had shocked Kelantan when Mohd Khyril Muhymeen Zambri struck twice in the 31st and 42nd minutes to give his team a 2-0 lead by half time.

However, just a minute after the restart, Kelantan reduced the deficit when Obinna Nwaneri rose high to nod in Indra Putra Mahyuddin's corner in the 46th minute before Ghadar's crucial strike.
Kedah could have given their home fans who had filled the Darul Aman Stadium to the brim, reason to cheer but Khyril Muhymeen muffed a good scoring opportunity in the final minute of the match.
The final will be played at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, on Saturday, May 19, 2012.
