Their 17th victory out of the 24 matches in the league enabled them to collect 57 points, seven points more than their closest rival, Lions XII from
Singapore who each have to more matches to play.
Kelantan is the third team to have succeeded in defending the trophy after Kedah did it in 2007 and 2008, and Selangor in 2009 and 2010, since the trophy was introduced in 2004 which was then won by Pahang.
In the match tonight, the Red Warriors opened accounts through Indra Putra Mahayuddin in the 17th minute before Mohammed Ghaddar Mahmoud made it 2-0 two minutes later after being fed by Indra Putra.
The Red Warriors skipper, Mohd Badhri Mohd Radzi punished the visitors further with a third goal four minutes later when he fired a powerful shot from inside the penalty box to beat Perak goalie Mohd Nasril Nourdin.
